Clinical image description

A-73-year-old Japanese woman visited our hospital due to a 1-month history dyspnea and systemic edema. Echocardiography showed marked left ventricular symmetric hypertrophy. Laboratory findings indicated hypothyroidism. As the thyroid hormone levels were normal, her left ventricular hypertrophy was also normalized. Physicians should raise awareness regarding hypothyroidism when cardiomegaly is diagnosed based on echocardiography.
