Severe scrotal trauma in polytrauma patients

Background

Testicular or scrotal trauma is rare, but most often occurs after an assault with a firearm. Most patients have only isolated scrotal or testicular trauma.

However, their incidence is increasing with the rise in road accidents involving motorcycles and bicycles [1].

We report the case of a 28-year-old motorcyclist who was hit by a car, resulting in cerebral, abdominal, traumatological and urological trauma, with both testicles exposed, as shown in the following image.

Both testicles were viable, but the scrotal skin was completely absent, the scrotal lesion extending to the base of the penis (Figure 1).

After resuscitation, the patient was trimmed in the operating room.
